Holywood wil ons weer erg doen geloven dat als er aliens komen dat die slecht zullen zijn. Een tactiek die al begon met Independance Day. Het zijn misschien spectaculaire films maar probeer toch maar is meer het plaatje van Star Trek terug te halen in je gedachten of de film Contact en daar op de focussen als er (publiekelijk) first contact komt. Al is het maar om de balans met Holywood te herstellen.

Abrams has refused to reveal the plot of the film as he wants to keep it a mystery and let the images speak for themselves.  What has been confirmed is that it will take place in 1979 and it will be a homage/tribute to Spielberg's '70s and '80s science fiction films with a mystery and supernatural feel from Abrams. Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and follow them to Earth to hunt them down.
